Project: Arkham: A Glimpse At The Madness

Project Arkham is currently being developed as part of a year-long senior research project. The game is being created by a group of students attending Dakota State University (DSU.) The project is being lead by myself, Matthew Nelles as my senior graduation project. By the end of this year we plan to have a fully developed game, which will then be picked up by a (soon to be) indie game design company (tenatively) known as Viodware Gaming.

Arkham: A Glimpse Into The Madness is  a 2D turn based RPG in the style of an old SNES turn based RPG similar to Final Fantasy 2. It is a game which is set into the world of H.P. Lovecraft's Sci-Fi / Horror world known as the "Cthulhu Mythos." Arkham: A Glimpse Into The Madness, takes the idea of a simple turn based RPG that we are all used to playing, and turns it on its psychological head by implementing a Sanity system into the twist. This sanity system will effect every character slightly differently, but it will effect how all o fthem see and interact with the world around them.

The game will feature a unique party system that will allow players to choose which characters they wish to recruit to their party throughout the game. There are 8 designed characters which players are available for characters to recruit to their party. This will allow the player to choose to play through the game with anywhere from 1 to 8 characters in their party, however they wish to play the game.

The Game Pitch:

The world is slowly being consumed by the madness of the Ancient Ones, and you are one of the few who realize what is occurring. Play as a team of investigators trying to stop cultist groups from calling their ancient gods in this SNES style Party-Based RPG, featuring Turn-Based combat. Arkham: A Glimpse Into the Madness calls upon you to save the world from an evil that most people can’t even begin to comprehend.
